Runners in Regions
The boys and girls cross country runners are going into the Region Championship
The boys and girls cross country runners are going into the Region Championship on a good note. Seven of their twelve runners set a personal record at Baylor on Thursday. Casey Trew, Austin Work, Kobe Jones, Shelby Moyers, Hannah Withrow, Amber Moyers, and Albert Lewis all set PR’s. Eighth grader Casey Trew came within three seconds of breaking the 5k record for a girl at PCHS. Shelby Moyers placed in the top 50 and she was closely followed by Hannah Withrow and older sister Amber. “These three have consistently been our top three runners all year and we will definitely need them to be at their best next tuesday in the Region at Woodland Park Baptist Church.” Eryca Cross showed signs of her old self after having a rough last couple of weeks. “It was good to see Eryca show some signs that she is bouncing back right before region, because we will need her to be solid in that 4th spot.” Autymn Dalton had a season best time and will probably be the key to the team doing well next week. “Autymn has been battling an injury but she has really toughed it out. She knows that the 5th runner is the last runner on the team to score, so I think she will embrace that role and do her best.” Serena Tolar rounded out the scoring for the Lady Wildcats.
In the boys meet Justin Schoelzel and Albert Lewis ran competitively in a very tough boys race. Albert set a PR and Schoelzel only missed it by a few seconds. “I really hope these two can steal one of the top ten places at the region next week because they have worked hard this year.” Senior Alex Rogers ran his last meet as a Wildcat. “Alex has had a tough year, but he has never complained, showed up every day, and got it done in the classroom.”
