Janice Carolyn Newman, 59, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

A native of McMinn County and a resident of McMinn and Polk Counties most of her life, she was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  A daughter of G.W. and Ovaline Webb, she was preceded in death by one sister, Deborah Ann Webb; and her grandparents, Lake and Betty Webb and Ruel and Ella Mae Yoder. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Brad Atkins of Cartersville, GA; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Meadow Atkins of Cartersville, GA; her parents, G.W. and Ovaline Webb and her fiancé', J.B. Melton of Athen ,TN.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, February, 2, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Condee and Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Goodsprings Cemetery, Sunday, February 3rd for the 2:00 p.m., committal service.
