Ducktown notes ...
The Ducktown City Council held its regular meeting on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Commissioners Doug Collins and James Cearley were present. Mayor James Talley was absent.
The Council held its second reading of a resolution to rezone a parcel of land within the city limits from commercial to residential. This motion passed.
The Council also opted to forfeit a $100,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant program. The grant would have been used to build a Firehall, with plans to include a new library as well. Commissioner Collins explained the City had not been able to match these funds, and added although he hated turning down these funds, he believed Mayor James Talley was looking into other grants.
Ducktown will hold its monthly workshop on January 14th at 6 pm, as well as a Planning Commission meeting on January 17th at 6:30 pm. The City Council’s regular meetings are the 1st Thursday of every month at 7 pm in City Hall.
