MARIE PAULINE SCHOLES
of McCaysville, GA
Marie Pauline Scholes of McCaysville, GA, passed away January 7, 2013
at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mrs. Scholes was born January 22, 1918
in Fannin County GA to the late Thomas M. Plemmons and the late Sarah Fain
Plemmons. Marie loved attending McCaysville/Copperhill First Baptist Church
where she grew up and was a member most of her life. Her father’s name is on
the original cornerstone of the brick church that burned. Her
late husband, Alvin L. Scholes’ name is on the cornerstone of the current
McCaysville/Copperhill First Baptist Church. Marie never met a
stranger. She enjoyed being with people, fellowship with friends and playing
canasta. She was employed by Sneed’s Jewelry in Copperhill for over thirty
years. She continued to work for the Davis family at the Diamond Center in Blue
Ridge until retirement. Marie was preceded in death by her husband,
Alvin L. Scholes, and son, Barry Scholes. Survivors include: Sherry (Bob) Welch, son, Edison “Eddie” (Elva)
Scholes, granddaughter, Kimberley Scholes, grandson, Jeffery Welch,
granddaughter, Tracy (John) Heller, grandson, Michael (Jessica) Scholes,
grandson, Zachary (Sheila) Welch, granddaughter, Pamela Scholes, eight great
grandchildren, brother-in-law, Bill Jarvis, sister-in-law, Gwen Plemmons,
sister-in-law Eula Plemmons. Pallbearers were Eddie Scholes, Bob Welch, Jeffery
Welch, Zachary Welch, Michael Scholes and Kerrry Plemmons.
Funeral Services were Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the
McCaysville/ Copperhill First Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating.
Music by Rev. Harry Gilbert and Katie Gilbert, and Austin Vest. Interment
followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of
