Mrs. Berta Anderson, age 101, of Blue Ridge, passed away October 27, 2012 at her home.   Mrs. Anderson was born October 23, 1911 in Fannin County, GA to the late Oscar Griggs  and the late Alice Defoor Griggs.  She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Berta enjoyed quilting and reading.

Berta was preceded in death by father, Oscar Griggs, mother, Alice Defoor Griggs, husband, James "Earl" Anderson, daughter, Janette Barker Carpenter, sons, Franklin  Anderson, and J. E. Anderson, daughter, Geneva Cody, grandchildren, Mike Anderson and Angela Anderson, great granddaughter, Renee Thomas, sisters, Drucella Panter, Ophelia Galloway, Helen Gilliam, brothers, George Griggs and O.C. Griggs.

Survivors include children, Gene (Chris) Anderson, Alice Cody, Carol Ann (Jimmy) Jones; grandchildren; Wayne Barker, Brenda Henson, Kenny Anderson, Shirley Simmonds,  Janice Boyer,  Becky  Tison, Terry Hembree,  Tim Hembree,  Robert Shawn Cody, Stephen Anderson, Denise Fridl, Ashley Mendel, and Carson Jones, sisters: Imogene (Edsel) Deal, Ozella ( Bob) Hellerstedt, daughters-in-law, Barbara  Anderson, and  Loravee Anderson. Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services: Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11:00 am  from the Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Ray Queen and Rev. Glen Collis officiating.  Music provided by the Beach Family.   Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers: Matt Henson, Kenny Anderson, Terry Hembree, Robert Shawn Cody, Carson Jones, Wayne Barker and Stephen Anderson.
