Effective October 20th, 2012, I will be leaving Benton IGA to pursue other opportunities. It has been my honor and privilege to work for you and with this wonderful community. When I first arrived in Benton, Mayor Stephens informed me that this was the greatest county in the South. After working with the people of Polk County, I have found this to be true. I feel confident that the new management will continue to support this great community, and I would like to ask the community to continue their support of the Benton IGA. Thank you Polk County for everything, and as always… IT IS A GREAT DAY TO BE IN BENTON!

How we dress makes an impression. Last month I went to the Polk County Commissioners meeting in Benton. At first I didn’t notice how the commissioners were dressed until Mr. Brooks came in. I shook my head. I could not believe that a public official would show up to a public meeting looking the way he did. Where am I going with this? There is a time to dress casual and a time to conduct business. He is a paid public official and should conduct himself as such. He should be making a good impression for his constituents. I need to say that the remainder of the Commissioners were dressed respectfully and conducted themselves as was fitting in a public meeting. If you have never been to one of the Commissioners’ meetings, you should take the time to attend at least one of them. You may or may not agree with what you see and hear but it will let you know what your Commissioners are doing and which ones care enough to show up. You voted for them, you need to make them aware that you are watching them. I know I’ll be watching.
Polk County’s road committee met last Tuesday to go over the list of county roads in an attempt to have an updated list that includes all county roads with their proper names as well as the mileage for the roads.
