Rail Adventures selling out fast
All Saturday trips to Copperhill for the month of October have sold out.
Organizers for the “Hiwassee River Rail Adventure” report brisk ticket sales for the October train excursions. All Saturday trips to Copperhill for the month of October have sold out. Kathy Taylor, Etowah Ticket Office Manager, said, “People are buying tickets at a faster pace than last year, and further in advance. Tickets are available for other weekdays in October and November, but the Saturday trips to Copperhill have proven to be very popular.”
The “Hiwassee River Rail Adventure” offers two options for train rides. The “Copperhill Special” is an all-day train excursion with a mid-day layover in Copperhill for lunch and shopping. The “Hiwassee Loop” trip is a half-day trip from Etowah to the famous Hiwassee Rail Loop and back.
The “Hiwassee River Rail Adventure” was featured as part of a Public Television Station film titled “Great North American Railway Journeys.” Linda Caldwell, Executive Director for the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association, said, “The film has aired multiple times all over the U.S., raising awareness for the Hiwassee River Rail Adventure..”
The scenic train excursions take place on the Old Line Railroad that connects Copperhill to Etowah. The Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association purchased the line from CSX in 2002 with assistance from Glenn Springs Holding, Inc.
