Golfers shoot best scores
Not only did the Lady Wildcats and the Wildcats shot their best scores of the year last week but the number one player on both teams had their individual best scores also. On Monday, August 27, Lydia Triplett and Evan Ball posted one-under 35s in the teams’ wins over Meigs and Copper Basin at Chatata Valley. The Ladies posted an 82 to offset Meigs’ 96 and Basin’s 112. The Men shot 153 against Meigs’ 194 and Basin’s 206.
Lauren Passmore posted a 47 to go with Triplett’s 35 while Cameron Bean had a 38 and Michael Rongey and Ryan Droke each scored 40 to go with Ball’s 35. Bean’s 38 and Droke’s 40 were also their best scores of the season while Rongey’s 40 was his second best. Passmore’s score was also her second best to date.
Shelby Bryant shot 53 and Albany Sellers had a 59 for the Basin Ladies and Hunter Bruce had a 43 to pace the Boys. Kenny Thompson added a 48, Cordell Griffin had a 54, and Colton Cole finished with a 61 for the Cougars.
In Tuesday’s Match with Silverdale and Sequoyah both Polk team came away victorious. The Ladies ran their record to 10-2 with their score of 81 to Sequoyah’s 84 and Silverdale’s 94. Lydia Triplett posted a 36 and Emily Massengill had a score of 45. The Boys eked out a 1 point score over Sequoyah, 168 to 169, and Silverdale had a 198. Evan Ball, Cameron Bean, and Jake Burrows each shot 41 and Michael Rongey added a 45 for the final 168. The Boys upped their record to 9-3.
