Postelle Day is Oct. 6
The Events Planning Committee of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Postelle announces that on Saturday, October 6, 2012, the Annual Postelle Day celebration will be held. (This event is not to be confused with the church homecoming which is held the first Sunday of June each year.) Activities will get underway at 10:30 a.m. at the Max Payne Pavilion on the west end of the church grounds.
Residents, former residents, descendants, friends, passersby, or anyone with any kind of connection or interest in Postelle--this is the place to be for the seventh annual celebration which includes a bounty of food, good local music and plenty of fellowship.
Although bringing food is not necessary, anyone wishing to do so may bring finger-foods including sandwiches, chips, veggie trays, dips, buckets of fried chicken, hotdogs, drinks, or perhaps a big pot of soup beans with a crusty side of cornbread. Finger-foods will dominate the menu, but memories of growing up in Postelle must surely include the last two items. Last but not lease, bring desserts. Basically, the motto this year is “You bring it--we’ll eat it.”
Those attending who wish to join in the entertainment, please feel free to bring along musical instruments and be enthusiastically ready to play and/or sing. Just as Bill Holder and his boys livened up this community with their guitars, fiddles and banjos in times past, this year promises to be no different. In fact, Bill’s son, Kenneth, and his band along with other local favorites will get the music started just past noon.
Remember Postelle Day Saturday, October 6, 2012. Save the date. If there are any questions, please call Linda Dale Nickle @ 423-496-9689.
