Local residents have been receiving text messages that state:
“THE CREDIT UNION CENTER ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 423-665-1106.”
This is a scam. These texts are being sent randomly to area residents; the scammers are hoping that some recipients will be members of any credit union and hold a credit union debit card. If you call the number you will be asked to enter your 16-digit card number, and then your PIN.
If you receive this text message delete it and do not call the number provided. If you believe you may have fallen victim to the scam and have given away your card number and/or PIN, call your financial institution immediately.
