The Polk County Dizzy Dean Baseball group will be hosting two summer tournaments at different age groups and different levels of competition this summer.
The Polk County Dizzy Dean Baseball group will be hosting two summer tournaments at different age groups and different levels of competition this summer. On June 21st they will be hosting the 7 year-old District Tournament, teams and times TBA. On July 5th they will host the 10 year-old State Tournament, teams and times TBA.
There will be an “end of season party” June 9th at the Baseball Complex starting at 1:00pm. Activities will include Trophy Presentation, lunch, waterslide inflatables, and games
This years’ program has been a real success with the largest number of participants in recent history and the greatest amount of competition. There is a total of 12 teams at four different age groups in the organization and they are as follows (Head Coach and age group included): Rockies 9-10 (Coach Kenneth Ellis), Mets 9-10 (Coach Chad Reese), Nationals 9-10 (Coach Greg Sneed), Rangers 7-8 (Coach Dusty Milen), Marlins 7-8 (Coach Larry Nelms), Red Sox 7-8 (Coach Bob Bean), Reds 5-6 (Coach Mark Bishop), Cubs 5-6 (Coach Doug Jackson), Padres 5-6 (Coach Anthony Childers), Cardinals 3-4 (Coach Kim Moorehouse), Braves 3-4 (Coach Tim Jones), and White Sox 3-4 (Coach Britney Stone).
Out of league competition has been with area teams from Etowah, Englewood, Madisonville, Decatur, and Riceville.
