Basketball awards banquet held
The Annual PCHS Basketball Awards Banquet was held Sunday, March 11 at Shiloh Baptist Church.
The Annual PCHS Basketball Awards Banquet was held Sunday, March 11 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Coaches Rusty Brewer and Johnny Hayes, Jr. recognized all players involved in the 2011-2012 season and then made individual award presentations. Both Coaches also recognized others involved in the programs and the contributions they made. They made special note of the sacrifice and dedication of their families and the player’s families.
Coach Hayes introduced the ‘Kittens and presented letter awards to the team. He then made individual awards to the following: Nattalie Miles received the Defensive Player Award and the Academic Award; Emily Wilson received the Offensive Player Award; Riley Hatcher received the 6th Man Award; Rachel Epperson received the Coach’s Award; Morgan Greer received the Wildkitten Award; and Maclain Yowarsky was presented the Most Valuable Player Award. Hayes also recognized Managers Daniel Hall, Lindsay Cross, Katey Conner, and Kayla Lowe. He also gave special recognition to scorekeeper LaRonda Cochran.
Coach Rusty Brewer then recognized each player involved in the Wildcat program. He also emphasized the efforts and dedication shown by the team in the second half of the season that resulted in the team’s winning the District 5AA Tournament Championship. The following players were presented the individual awards: Andrea Ragona received the Newcomer of the Year Award; Cody Burger received the Hustle Award; Evan Ball received the Coach’s Award; Alex Akins and Logan Brewer received the Senior Academic Award; Alex Akins and Logan Brewer received the Wildcat Award (Boy’s MVP Award); And Alex Akins, Logan Brewer, and Cody Burger were presented the Captains Award which is voted on by the players. Brewer then recognized Managers Daley Hall, Daniel Hall, and Delaney Hall.
Bruce Underwood presented the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Award to Nattalie Miles.
The banquet was catered by the Farmhouse Restaurant.
