In response to the article about the 40-year growth plan.
Dear Editor:
In response to the
article about the 40-year growth plan. I have to question not what Ms. Jones
says but what she doesn’t say.
Ms. Jones states, “If
done correctly, it’s about enhancing the value of property and property
rights.” If what is done correctly? How will property value be enhanced? All we
will get is pretty sounding words with no detail.
Chattanooga is driving
the bus for this region and they are dues paying members of ICLEI. Hamilton
County also pays dues to ICLEI. I believe ICLEI is charged with the
implementation of UN Local Agenda 21 in local communities. Go to their website
and in 3 clicks of the mouse you will be taken to their Agenda 21 section. Now
if they have nothing to do with the UN Agenda 21 why do they have it on their website?
Why do they attend all of the UN conferences and report as to the progress of
UN Local Agenda 21 in the US? Will ICLEI now be calling the shots for all 16
counties??
McBride-Dale-Clarion, the
company that won the contract for the planning process, has several articles on
their website that quotes the definition of Sustainable Development and
references the Brundtland Commission. The report created by the Brundtland
Commission (Our Common Future) is a foundation for UN Agenda 21. The definition
of sustainable development used in an article on the McBride-Dale-Clarion
website is verbatim the definition used in the Brundtland Commission Report.
Mr. Firestone is putting
a disingenuous spin on the financing of this project. HUD-EPA-DOT money WAS
requested but denied. That does not change the fact that we tried to get HUD to
finance the creation of our growth plan; which would hold us liable to follow
the HUD guidelines. Private donations will pay for the creation of the plan. But
who pays for the implementation? In order to request HUD money for the
implementation, the plan must be built according to HUD requirements or future
funds will also be denied. It matters not where the money comes from. The plan
will be created in the same manner as all the plans this group and many other
NGO’s have created all over America.
On Dec. 29 the Institute
for Justice won a major legal battle for the citizens of California. These
people have had their property rights assaulted for 20 years. CA was the test
site for Agenda 21. Santa Cruz named their plan Santa Cruz Local Agenda 21. So
tell me again Ms. Jones how this plan has nothing to do with Agenda 21. This CA
Supreme Court decision has shut down over 400 redevelopment groups in CA. Will
this be us 20 years from now? Fl and WI has also taken steps to shut down these
plans too. Sustainable Development are proven to be job killers not job
creators and devastate the state economy.
Ask Ms. Jones or Mr.
Firestone if they are familiar with the Southeastern Ecological Framework. This
document created by the EPA paints a very bad picture for the future of rural
landowners in Polk County.
The Federal Register
clearly states the intent of these grants. The Sustainable Development
Challenge Grant program is also a step in implementing ``Agenda 21, the Global
Plan of Action on Sustainable Development,'' signed by the United States at the
Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
I ask that you learn
about Agenda 21. It is a plan to control EVERY aspect of human life and our
government has been supporting the slow implementation of the plan for 20
years. They call it Sustainable Development in order to mask Agenda 21. Many
planners are now dropping the words Sustainable Development because people are
fighting back. If anyone is interested in learning more please contact me at karenbracken5@gmail.com.
We cannot keep our head in the sand. We must question and challenge every
aspect of this plan to ensure WE THE PEOPLE protect our property rights because
neither our government nor Ms. Jones will do it for us.
