The
Museum Center at 5ive Points announces its Stitches-in-Time
quilt submission weeks from January 3 – 14, 2012. Please bring your quilt(s) to
the Museum Center between the hours of 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on Monday – Friday
and on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.This year the Museum will be accepting two quilts per person, however,
the Museum will cap the number of entries to the main exhibit at 120.Please consider bringing both
contemporary quilts and antique quilts. To download an application in advance,
please visit www.museumcenter.org.The 2012 exhibit will be held January 26
- March 10, 2012.
Participants
are asked to have a 4” hanging sleeve either sewn or pinned to the back top of
their quilt so the piece can be hung. Antique quilts do not need to have a
sleeve. For questions about this please call the Museum and ask for Elizabeth

Quilts
will be judged before the exhibit opens by a guest judge in the following
categories: Best of Show Large Contemporary, Best of Show Small Contemporary,
Best of Show Antique, Best Duet (Two-Person) Quilt, Best Group Quilt, Best Use
of Color & Design, and the Viewer’s Choice Award.Throughout the exhibit viewers will be able to vote for the
Viewer’s Choice Award, which will be awarded at the close of the exhibit.
This
year’s Challenge is an Appalachian Quilt Trail Challenge. In 2010, Bradley
County joined the Appalachian Quilt Trail with 12 wooden quilt squares
installed on barns and places of business from downtown to the countryside.
This 2012 Quilt Challenge celebrates Bradley County’s important mark on the Appalachian
Quilt Trail and our local quilt heritage. Cash prizes will be awarded for the
Quilt Challenge winners. First prize of $100, second prize of $75, and third
prize of $50.
Quilters
are asked to submit a small quilt or wall hanging that is inspired by one of
the Quilt Blocks on the Appalachian Quilt Trail in Bradley County. Quilt
submissions can range in size, but the sum of all sides must be less than 240

The
Museum Center at 5ive Points preserves and interprets the history and culture
of the Ocoee District of Southeast Tennessee. The museum hosts exhibits and
education programs. The Museum’s Store sells Appalachian arts and crafts from
the region. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00
a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The museum is closed Sunday, Monday & holidays. Admission
is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5.
Groups of 12 or more are $4 each. The Museum is free the first Saturday of each
