How to cook a turkey…


Joel Blanche: Go to the turkey store. Put it in the frying pan. Fry it for 20 minutes. Put salt on it and eat it.

    Matthew Kimsey: Cut it’s head off, skin it, put salt and pepper on it, stick it in the oven for a minute or 2. the oven would have to be 10 degrees then eat it!

Aiden Taylor: Buy a turkey at the Dollar store. Put seasoning on it. Then I would put it in the oven n 11 degrees and leave it for 11 minutes. Get it out when it’s done. Cut it up and then we will eat it.

Kelly Montgomery: Go get it at the turkey place. Then bake if for my mom. I would bake it really long. The oven would have to be really hot! Then me and my mom will eat it.

Isaac Henderson: I would go to the Piggly Wiggly and get a turkey. My turkey would have to weigh 1600 lbs. Put my turkey on the grill. It would have to cook for 1000,015 minutes, Then it’s ready to eat.

Madison Scott: I would get a turkey at the Dollar Store and cook it in a pan. Cook it for 5 minutes. I would put salt and ranch dressing on it. Then put pepper on it. Then I would take the skin and feathers off of it. Then it’s ready t eat.

Grace Payne: Get a turkey at the turkey store. I would bake it for 5 minutes. The oven would have to be 5 degrees. Then I would get ready to eat with my mom, dad, mamaw, papaw and my cousins.

Rileigh Hoefgen: I would get a turkey at the turkey store. I would cout it’s head off. Cut it up and cook it. Put it in the oven for 6 minutes. The oven would be 7 degrees. Then I would eat it with my Grammy, Papa, mama, bubba and dad.

Ethan Pack: Get a turkey at the IGA. I would cook it on the stove for 3 minutes. I would put salt and pepper on it. Cut it up and put on the table.

Vanessa Brooks: I would get a turkey at Wal-Mart. Put it on the grill for 10 minutes. I would put pepper, salt and onions on it. Cut it and eat it.

Jonathan Woodall: I would go in the woods and get a turkey. I would heat it in a fire and eat it.

Summer Montgomery: I would get a turkey at the Piggly Wiggly and put salt and pepper on it. Then I would put eggs on it. Cook it in oven for 5 hours. Then take the legs off and eat it.

Cadance Cheaves: Get a turkey out of the woods and take it home. Then I would cook it for 45 seconds. The oven would be very hot. After it’s done take it out and eat it.

Ross Stillwell: 1st go to our farm and ask to have a turkey. Then take it home. I would skin it and build a fire. Next cook it up and eat it.

Dillon Payne: Get a turkey at the Dollar Store. Put it in the oven for 40 seconds. Get it our and cut it’s head off. Then cut the skin off. Then my mom and dad eat it.

Brady Morrow: I would get one out of the woods then I would skin it then put it in the oven. Set the oven on 50 degrees and cook for 45 minutes. The cook bacon to go with it. Put salt and pepper on it and have a lon long family dinner.

Kaven Jory: Go to the turkey restaurant. They would cook it for me. I would have green beans and macaroni. I will drink punch with mine.

Madison McCowan: Go to Wal-Mart and get the turkey. Put it in the oven for 15 seconds and then turn it upside down and cook it on the other side. Then eat it.

Ally Craig: First you get a turkey. Then you put it in a pot and cook it for 12 hours. That’s how much my mommy does. Take it out and put it on a big plate. Then get a knife and cut a piece for everybody.

Adrianna Jones: you’ll need a pot. Stuff apples inside the turkey and put it in the pot. Put the pot in the microwave and keep it on for five hours. Try not to get any turkey in you teeth when you eat it.

Ceraya Pope: Granny will make chocolate cake. Mommy will put a turkey in the oven. I had a dream about it. You have to cut it first.

Renee Duckett: Mom cuts up onions, apples and celery, mixes it up and puts it inside the urkey. Then puts the turkey in the oven. Then after we put the turkey in the soup.

Sam Lowe: My dad will cook the turkey in the oven after he waits for it to get hot maybe 400º for 4,5,6 minutes.

Gabe: Shell: I put peppers in it. Then you cook it two hours. I don’t know really how long I just took a guess. I like mine with jalapenos. I also like stuffing. It tastes like chicken.

Johntravis Speer: I woud put some spice on it. You set your oven to a hot temperature. You cook it for twenty minutes. I would then carve it. Then I would eat it.

Carter Hawkins: You have to take its temperature. It should be 35º. It does not need anything on it.

Braden Crumley: You have to cook it in the oven. You put it in there for 8 minutes. It is very hot. I like to put salt and pepper on it. Hot sauce is good too.

Sarah Brown: Set the oven on 80º. Put eight spices on it. You need to cook it for 10 minutes. I put two cups of pepper on it and eight cups of salt.

Natalie Monroe: You put dressing on it and a secret ingredient. You cook it for about four hours. You put it in the oven. It is just a little hot not very hot.

Samuel Long: Very first you have to get a turkey. You have to catch it at a barn. Then you get it ready to cook it. First you have to put it in the oven in a frying pan. The oven is 101º. You cook it for 30 seconds and then you take it out. Then you take the stuffing off. Then you put it on your plate. Then you eat it.

Gracie Briggs: you put stuffing in it. Put some pepper on it and then I put it in the oven. You put it in a pan. The oven should be 24º. You will need to cook it for one hour.

Madison Aiken: You put it in a pan in the oven. You should cook it for 15 seconds. I like to put stuff on it like pepper and salt.

Riley Wilson: You should cook it for 20 seconds. The oven should be 25º. I think you should put seasohning on it. I like seasoning. I put a little bit of stuffing in it too. I want hot sauce with mine, and extra seasoning. I like mine with ham. I cut it in half. I like it with pepper and salt.

Peyton Nelms: You set it on five minutes. I don’t put anything on it because I’ve never ate turkey before. If I like turkey I would probably eat the turkey legs.

Leah Keith: You put in in the oven. The oven should be hot. I think you should put pepper and salt on it. I think you should cook it for two hours. That is my guess. I don’t know how my Poppa does it.

Calli Rae Wong: Take the turkey out of the package. I would put it in the stove. I would let it get a little bit cooked. Then put a little bit of seasoning. Then I would cook it the full way it is supposed to be. The oven would be very hot. Then I would put it on the plate. Then my whole family could eat.

Ely Hightower: Kill the turkey, cook in the oven for 50 minutes at 60º. Then we would eat it.

Allye Day: Kill the turkey, fix it with food. Cook it in a pan in the stove for 1 minute at really hot.

Kennedy Hembree: Put it in a pan, snatch the turkey up. Cook it at papaw’s at the cabin. Cook it for 20 at 50º.

Zalacye Wilson: Put it in the microwave for 9 minutes. Eat it.

Emma Torbett: Cook it in the oven for 3 minutes at hot.

Jacob Seay: Cook it on the stove for 16 minutes. Eat it.

Nolan Schabell: Skin the turkey. Cook it in the stove for 26 hours at 22º.

Andrew Hillard: Put salt in the turkey and pepper. Put it in the stove for 10 minutes at so hot.

Logan Atterton: cut it up Cook it in the oven 30 minutes at 11º.

Nakia Woody: Cook it with heat for 30 minutes tanke it out of the oven. Let it cool. Eat it.

River Pike: Cook it in the oven for 7 minutes at 18º.

Dakota Cooper: Put batter on it. Roll it. Put in the oven for 10 minutes at 50º. Eat it.

Tucker Garrett: Cook it at my home in the stove for 10 minutes at 11º.

Kurt Speed: Bake it in the cafeteria for 10 minutes at 5º.

Carson Milen: Roast it on the grill for 6 minutes.

Dominic Royce: Cook it in a pot for 5 years.

James Headrick: Cook it on the stove for a short time.

Cole Ingram: Cook it at home in the fire for 8 minutes.

Emily Johnson: Cook it in the oven.

Chelsea Stuart: You find a turkey. You shoot it. Then you cook it. You need a real turkey, some stuffing, and butter. Cook for four hours at hot, hot, hot, hot oven temperature.

Mallorie Morgan: you need stuffing, marshmallows, blueberries, corn, strawberries, carrots, salt, pepper. Buy a turkey and put stuffing and marshmallows in it, then put blueberries, corn, strawberries, carrots, salt, pepper in it and cook it for one hour at 215 degrees. Eat it!

Ally Foster: You need stuffing, salt, pepper, carrots, strawberries, and corn. Find a turkey, shoot the turkey, take the turkey home and put the ingredients in it. Cook it for on hour at 6 degrees and eat it.

Ireland Wilson: Kill the turkey, bring it home, skin it, cut it, then put 4 cups flour, stuffing salt, pepper, water, candy, and carrots in the turkey. Cook it for four hours in a hot, hot, hot oven.

Tristin Raper: You need a turkey, sugar, vinegar, and strawberries. Cook for 12 hours at 530 degrees.

Carson fowler: you cook a turkey for 4 hours at 451 degrees and then you stuff the turkey.

Kharcee Lane Hughes: You need a turkey, spices, and stuffing. First you buy a turkey then make the stuffing and put it in the turkey. You cook it for 11 minutes at 55 degrees.

Isaac Chambers: You kill a turkey, stuff it, and then cook it. Cook it for 10 minutes at 200 degrees F.

Alyssia Taylor: You need seasoning, sugar, flour, water, turkey leg, and ice cream. Cook together for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 315 degrees.

Isaiah McKee: You buy a turkey from the store and put it in the oven for 4 hours at 451 degrees.

Logan Allen: You need stuffing, hot sauce, water. You should cook the turkey for 10 minutes at 47 degrees.

Aidan Garcia: You get you flour and grease and a turkey. You put grease on the turkey and put it in the oven. Cook it for 10 minutes at 510 degrees.

Sebastian Baliles: Chicken and mashed potatoes recipe: You buy a pack of chicken, then you fry it, then you eat it. Yu can make some mashed potatoes. You boil some potatoes. Then you have some mashed potatoes.

Courtney Ballew: Chocolate Cake recipe: You need chocolate, 4 eggs, sprinkles, chocolate mix. Mix the ingredients together. Put the cake in the oven for 10 minutes at 50 degrees.

Micha Johnson: Potato recipe: You put the potatoes in the microwave, cook them for 3 minutes and then get them out.

Dustin Hunt: Pumpkin Pie: You use pumpkin pie mix in the can. Put it in the pie pan. Bake it for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.

Albani Dotson: Banana Pudding recipe: you need bananas, whipped cream, vanilla wafers. Cook the banana pudding at 104 degrees. Cake recipe: chocolate, flour, cake mix, chocolate icing, and 4 eggs. Bake chocolate cake for 2 hours at 105 degrees.

Liberty Bryce: You get the turkey from the store. When you get home your moma will put it in the sink. She runs water over it then she sticks this thing that looks like a shot in it. Then she puts it in the oven and cooks it. The she takes it our and cuts it. Then we eat.

Addison Hook: First you clean it. Then you stick your hand in it and pull out the extra parts. Then you just stick it in the oven. You let it cook for 2 hours. Then you sit down and cut the turkey up. Then everybody comes with plates and gets some to eat.

Lorna Smith: You go to the store and buy it. The turkey I bought cost 10 dollars! Then take it hime you take it out of the paper put it in a pan and put it in the oven. I pout a toothpick it first though. It should stay in the oven for an hour and a half. Take it out and eat it. And then my tummy will be happy and feel good. That’s all!

Lacey Nelson: You buy the turkey you take it home. You put like a little salt and water on it then you put it in the stove for like two hours. When the stove like beeps you know it’s done. So, then you like take it out and like cut it up and then like everybody comes to your house and they like eat it!

Chloe Parks: Go to the store and get a turkey. Go home. Then you put some yellow stuff on it. Don’t know what it’s called. But it makes the turkey taste good! Then you put it in the oven for a long time. Then you take it out. Cut it up and then eat it!

Kaden Caraway: Go to the store…S-T-O-R-E spells store! Then you pay for it. Then they put it in your bag. You should go home and wash the turkey. Then you put it in the Oven for about 30 minutes. Then it’s done and you can eat it!

Lexi Jory: I wash my turkey in the sink. I put it in a big pan. I put salt and pepper and sugar on it so it will be REAL good! I put some chili on it too! And also one piece of pizza inside it! Then I wrap it up with foil, and take it to my mamaws house! We let her cook it! And it taste like a good, good turkey then!

Madison Cochran: My mom gets it at the store. She don’t do anything to it. She just puts it on the pan. Then she cooks it and we eat it.

Lillie Coffey: to get a turkey you go kill it. Then you put it in your truck or car. Take it home. You have to pull the feathers off. Then you cook it for a while and eat it. Oh, and I know how to spell Thanksgiving. T_H_A_N_KS_G_I_V_I_N_G!

Adrian Hughes: I will buy it from the store. Take it home. Then when I get home I will pick all the feathers and cut off it’s head. I’ll stick it in the oven for 200 seconds. And when I get it out it will be cooked and good.

Sapporiah Ross: You get it from the store. Take it home, and wash it and clean it. Then you put it in the oven for about an hour or so. When you get it out it’s ready to eat. That’s all!

Destiny Pittman: You get one at the Piggly Wiggly. Take it home. When you get it home you should put it on the stove. I put salt and pepper on it. Put it in the oven for one hour. That’s about it on the table and we all eat it.

Susan Ring: You can get one form the IGA. Then you take it home and get all the stuff off of it. When it’s all clean you should put it in a really big pan. Then after that put it in the oven until it’s hot. Then take it out of the oven and wait till it gets cold again. Then you get to eat some.

Erin Jones: Moma gets the turkey at Ingles. She brings it home. Then she will wash it. Then she cooks it in the oven for 100 minutes. Then she lets it out. Then we all eat it.

Levi Roberts: You have to get a turkey from the Piggly Wiggly! My Papaw works there in the meat department. He knows all about how to pick out a good one! My mom cooks it! To get it ready, she cuts the wrapper off with a knife. She puts in a really big, huge pan. Then she puts it in some kind of clear plastic wrap-up thing, like a bag! Then she puts this apple stuff on it, I think?? Then she puts it in the oven for about an hour. And then she gets it our and then we let it sit and cool. The, actually we have cut it up and let it cool some more. And then we eat it! Yum!

Landon Taylor: You kill a turkey in the woods then you bring it home. You have to pull the feathers out of it. Then you cook it. To cook it you put it on the stove for just a little while, then you eat it.

Hunter Walden: I think you have to go out in the woods and hunt the turkey and kill it! Then you take it home and skin it! Then you take it inside and grind it up. Then you put it in the freezer bags to keep some for later. But leave yourself two bags our to put on the stove to cook right now. And that’s how you get your turkey for Thanksgiving. I think? I don’t really know, cause I never did it. But that’s what we do to deer though!

Walking the Line, a series of drawings inspired by 16 years of attendance at the John C. Campbell Folk School’s Friday Night Concert series, is now on display at the Folk School’s History Center.
