In response to Sharon Rodriguez’s letter in the Aug 31 2011. Rest assured Mrs./Ms. Rodriguez that what you have heard about the “House Republicans’ vote to end Medicare and cut benefits “ is NOT true. They did vote to change Medicare, but that would not affect current recipients or people I “believe” 55 or older, which by the way I belong too. I do not know how long you have been on medicare and I hope you have many mores years to enjoy your life, but if changes are not made, with more people coming on Medicare, the money will run out.
I find it very detestable that the media will publish these scare tactics to influence their opinions/ratings, but not publish the truth when it doesn’t. The only recent Bill that has been passed and signed into law, that affects Medicare benefits, is the Affordable Health Care Act (Obamacare) passed by the Democrats. After a year they still do not know what all is in that bill.
All citizens, especially Medicare recipients should use more than the national media as their source of information before making any decision on how well government is operating.
