Kids Fishing Day May 21
“Kids Fishing Day” event in Cherokee National Forest’s Ocoee/Hiwassee Ranger District is scheduled for May 21, 2011 at McCamy Lake. Anglers 15 years and under are invited to try their luck.
This event, hosted by the USDA Forest Service, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Cherokee Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, will be held at McCamy Lake in the Chilhowee Recreation Area on May 21 from 7:00 am-11:00 am. From U.S. Highway 64 near the Ocoee Ranger Station turn onto Forest Service Road 77 – Ocoee Scenic Byway. Continue up Chilhowee Mountain seven miles to the Chilhowee Recreation Area - follow the signs.
Catchable size trout have been stocked in the lake, and fishing will be restricted to children 15 years of age and under. A non-fishing parent or guardian must accompany all kids. No licenses or permits are required. Prizes will be given away during the event.
