Walter (Bud) Lee Burton, 65, a life long resident of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the family residence. He was a member of the Old Fashion Gospel Tabernacle. He was the son of the late Walter Burton, Sr. and Bessie Walker Burton and was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Burton and two sisters, Nellie Rogers and June Burton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Burton of Old Fort; children and spouses: James Branam of Cleveland, Jerry and Sonya Branam, Allen and Jeannie Burton all of Benton, Brandy Burton and Chris Hudson of Old Fort; grandchildren: Nikki Branam of Cleveland, Matthew Branam of Benton, Jack Burton of Benton and Abbey Hudson of Old Fort; brothers: Lester Burton of Cleveland and Wayne Burton of Georgetown; sisters: Lonnie Burton of Decatur, Ailene McGill of McDonald and Martha Dean of McDonald.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Ronny Kesley officiating. Interment followed in Cookson Creek Cemetery with Anthony Howard, Kenny Howard, Rick Howard, Jeff Burton, Robert Burton and Tony Cain serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony concluded the service.
