This weekend will be the last weekend that all campgrounds will be open on the Ocoee/Hiwassee Ranger District.
This weekend will be the last weekend that all campgrounds will be open on the Ocoee/Hiwassee Ranger District.
Chilhowee Campground
Camping loops A-F will be closed for the winter on Nov 3. The overflow camping will remain open through the winter. Port-a-potty available. Day use will still be open. Port-a-potty available.
The group site will still be open and reservable. Please be advised there will be no electric, water, or showers; only the CXT toilet at the groupsite and port-a-potties will be available.
Parksville Campground
The group side gate will be closed on Nov. 3. The RV side will remain open through the winter. Gary will still be there as campground host and the bath house will still be available.
Quinn Springs Campground
Most campsites will be closed for the winter on Nov. 3. There will be some sites that remain open through the winter.
Thunder Rock Campground
For now, Thunder Rock will remain open through the winter. The bathrooms are heated. It may close during the holidays due to there being no one here to keep the bathrooms clean.
Dispersed Campgrounds
Remain open during the winter months.
Beaches
Are closed during winter months.
Boat Ramps
East Parksville Boat Ramp will remain open through the winter. When water gets too low, Parksville Boat Ramp and King Slough Boat Ramp will close for the winter, generally, by mid or late November.
Ocoee Whitewater Center
Beginning November 9, 2008 the Whitewater Center will start their winter hours. They will be open Friday - Sunday 8:30 am-4:30 pm.
