It's your newspaper
The Polk County News will be celebrating its 125th anniversary with a special section of the newspaper next week and an open house on Thursday, October 9. This also marks the 25th year of ownership of the newspaper by Randy and Ingrid Buehler.
In addition to inviting you to stop by and visit with us, and see our newly renovated office, we would like to hear your thoughts about the local newspaper that has served Polk County since 1883. We have always felt that this is your newspaper, not ours; we’re just the caretakers, so we’re always delighted when our drivers report that people are waiting for the Tuesday evening delivery to newsstands.
Readers often tell us that they can’t wait for the newspaper to arrive, that’s it’s an important part of their lives. We’d like to think there are newspaper clippings on refrigerators and in scrapbooks and Bibles throughout the area.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about your community newspaper. As we look to the future, we’d also like to hear about any changes you would like to see.
Send your thoughts to us by mail at P.O. box 129, Benton TN 37307 or email at polknews@bellsouth.net
