A Vanderbilt University fraternity party at High County apparently got out of hand Saturday night. According to Det. Joe Price, the Sheriff’s Department received a call around 6 a.m. Sunday to report the disorderly crowd. Several officers responded to the High Country campground and rounded up 56 students, age 18-22.
They were loaded onto a High Country bus and brought to the jail, where extra help came in to help with the booking process. Those who were over 21 years old were charged with disorderly conduct, while the others were charged with underage drinking and disorderly conduct. There was one charge of simple possession.
Price said they all made bond and were scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Oct. 22. He said the officers were concerned that they might try to get on the highways. He said there were several kegs of beer as well as liquor bottles at the campsite. Officers made them pour it all out, Price said.
