Georgia Spurling Couch Wilson, age 88 of Turtletown, TN, passed away September 21, 2008 in Cleveland, TN. Born in Polk County, TN she was the daughter of the late Bale Calvin and Ellen Conner Goode. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church but she attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Benton, TN. Mrs. Wilson loved gardening, flowers, quilting and being surrounded by her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by three husbands, R.C. Spurling, Fred Couch and A.J. Wilson; granddaughter, Teree Stone; son-in-law, Franklin Sparks; daughter, Mary Ellen Spurling; step-son, Jim Couch; step-daughter, JoAnn Davis.

Survivors include four daughters, Marie and husband, William Crook, Charlotte “Bobbie” and husband, Dave Garrison, Joan Sparks, all of Cleveland, TN and Cynthia and husband, Henry Nelms of Benton, TN; sister, Maggie Lunsford of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Ricky Lynn Dockery, Gerald Randall Dockery, Zane Chancey and Melitte McCoy; seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, step-children and step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 23, at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill with Rev. Guinn Green, and Rev. Don Whitehead officiating. Interment followed Wednesday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. from the Spurling Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Spurling, Rev. Donald Padgett, Joe Hamby, Henry Nelms, Mike Dale, Lewis Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were James Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Bill Wilson, Buck Welch, Benny Ballew, Dr. Mahmood Siddiqui, J.C. Lunsford, Weldon Dockery, Tom Dockery, Lewis Dockery, Wayne Dockery, Jackie Phillips, Almerine Farner, Myron Farner, Donnie Hatley, Lee Garrett and Hobert Hawkins.
