Arnold Hambright and John (Nick) Hembree were appointed to replace Harriett Frye and Nesbitt Dalton.
The county commission made its own appointments to the Polk County Library Board last week, choosing not to reappoint existing members. Arnold Hambright and John (Nick) Hembree were appointed to replace Harriett Frye and Nesbitt Dalton. Wanda Cheek was appointed to replace John Pippenger as county commission representative. Chairman Mark Bishop was going to appoint Greg Brooks, thinking he was interested, but Brooks declined. Cheek said she would like to serve.
Bishop said he is still not sure that the Board’s membership and rotation is correct and suggested it might need to be reconstituted. He said he has asked for copies of the board minutes, saying he thinks there are still two positions that should have been reappointed.
A commissioner from each district was appointed to serve on the Joint Economic Community Development Board, which meets quarterly. Daren Waters, John Pippenger and Kevin Stephens were asked. Brooks said he would attend if Stephens cannot.
Bishop said they need to inventory possibly surplus property in the old jail and sell it at the next Sheriff’s auction. The jail committee will see what’s there.
