Waterstone subdivision has opened for business, with 40 home sites ready to build. The private community is located off Hwy. 411 in Delano on the Hiwassee River.
Owners and developers Sammie McNelley and Gina Simpson have a lifetime of memories and investment as this same property was purchased as part of a 150-acre farm by their great grandfather and grandfather, J.R. McNelley, in the 1940s. It was used as their family farmland until retirement. “It was the dream of J.R. to see this property as it is now, Simpson said, adding, “We feel privileged to see that dream fulfilled and know that our grandfather would be proud of this spectacular development. She and McNelley both have homes on another parcel of the original property across from Waterstone.
Jimmy Locke joined with them as a developer and brought in his expertise as a home contractor and land developer.
Lots range from a half acre to 1.5 acres with underground utilities and paved roads with curbs. Street lamps and a private community river park with walking and bike trails will be added near completion of lot sales. There are four commercial lots available on the highway.
