(Original shared with Helen Brabham by Jim Hyatt, great-grandson of John Hyatt. John Hyatt went to Ducktown around 1885.While there he was a deputy sheriff and mailman. He also had a boarding house-hotel and a livery stable in Ducktown and Cleveland that was used to bring goods and passengers to both towns. On his mail route around the Hot House area he met Betty Hawkins. They were married in Fannin County, GA on October 6, 1890 by John J Prewit, NPJP. He left Ducktown after 1892 and returned to his original home and his parents in the Gumlog community,Towns County GA.
