Thank You
The letter received below is a reminder of why Polk County is such a special place. Despite all the political shenanigans, unexplainable decisions, criminal activity, and other events that tend to make the news, there are good people out there quietly doing good things that don’t make the news. That’s unfortunate; those who simply care about people go about their business without hoopla or special attention. To all of the unsung heroes out there: thank you.
Dear Editor,
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to a couple of young men that have made a seven year old boy with Autism and Cerebral Palsy a very happy young man.
Tim Morris and Matthew West are heroes of a very special breed. Our son Nathan is Autistic and loves everything to do with Firemen, Fire trucks etc… Tim Morris found out about Nathan from Matthew and took his needs to heart and performed a small miracle for Nathan.
Tim was able to secure an old fireman’s hat that was out of service and completely restored the hat including putting Nathan’s name on it. It took quite a while to accomplish this feat but he even went above and beyond that. Matthew and Tim arranged to deliver this epical hat to Nathan with lights and sirens. Tim dressed up in his uniform an presented this hat to Nathan. What joy there was on his face and he wears the hat with pride whenever he sees Firemen on T.V. He runs to get his hat and pretends along with the television.
This is another example of the giving spirit of the people that surround us. Tim had never met Nathan before but will never ever forget the night that they presented him with his treasure.
Tim and Matthew, We are sorry it took so long to get this formal thank you done, but we want you to know how much we appreciate the time and effort it took for you to accomplish this and for how much joy you brought to our son. Words just aren’t enough to express our appreciation. In our books, you are both heroes.
Curtis and Jerry Belk
