Work has started on the Hwy. 411 project south of Benton. The project entails the grading, drainage, construction of 3 bridges and paving on US-411 (SR-33) from .23 miles south of Lowery Road to .32 miles south of Welcome Valley Road. The total length of the project is 5.37 miles. The contractor on the project is Charles Blalock & Sons, Inc. from Sevierville, Tennessee and the estimated cost is $28,616,725.13. The project is due to be complete on or before October 31, 2011.
Currently the contractor is performing survey work on the project. Scott Medlin is TDOT's project manager for the project.
On Hwy. 64, work is underway for grading, drainage, and paving beginning east of US-411 and extending to west of the Ocoee River. The contractor is currently clearing, removing structures and installing erosion control throughout the project area. Motorists should use caution and be alert while traveling through the construction zone. Estimated completion date is September 2010. (Talley Construction Company, Inc./GF).
Repair of the Hwy. 411 bridge over the Conasauga River is underway. The contractor will have flagging operations in order to route traffic around construction activity. Estimated completion date is September 2008. (Mid-State Construction Company, Inc./GF).
Bradley County
I-75 Exit 20: Bridge repair at the I-75 / US-64 junction continues. Motorists traveling on the APD-40, US-74 bridge over I-75 at Exit 20 should expect delays in this area. The contractor will implement nightly lane closures on I-75 North and South beginning at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. to perform bridge repair work. The bridge over I-75 is once again down to one lane until the remainder of the bridge deck has been repaired. Estimated completion date is August 2008. (Jamison Construction, LLC/GF).
Hamilton County
I-75 widening project from 1.1 miles south of Lee Hwy. to 1.2 miles north of Lee Hwy continues. Old Lee Highway in this area will remain closed until the new bridge and approaches are complete, which is now scheduled to take place by mid-August 2008. The rest area located at the end of the project on I-75 South is now closed and will remain closed for the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is December 2010. (Bell & Associates Construction/KP).
I-24 bridge repainting continues. The contractor will have shoulder closures.
