Land put out for bid includes the former antique shop next to city hall, another lot on Main Street, a lot of Douglas Street and a lot on Douglas Street.
Ducktown commissioners are selling several pieces of city-owned property, as well as some surplus equipment.
Land put out for bid includes the former antique shop next to city hall, another lot on Main Street, a lot of Douglas Street and a lot on Douglas Street. Mayor James Talley said the city has no plans to use them and it will benefit the city to get it back on the tax rolls. He said the city had planned to make renovations to the former antique shop but he has been approached by somebody interested in buying it.
The surplus equipment includes a desk, machines, weed eaters and heaters.
In other business, Talley reported that the sidewalk grant will be delayed until spring.
Talley said the city has received the first payment on the cell tower site. Construction is expected to begin in a week or so.
At the city park, benches have been installed and Tri-State is to put in lighting.
Work is set to begin on the water line extension to Isabella and Kimsey Dairy Road. Construction is expected to take about three months.
Doug Collins reported that planning is well underway for the Copper Festival to be held this fall. He also reported that the BMX park is doing well, but suffered a setback when the concession stand was vandalized.
The commission approved electrical work on city hall and putting underground lines at the park.
