Living Heritage Museum Offers Chance to Find Your History

Guide to Historic Research and Resources in McMinn County
July 15, 2008 at 6 pm
Museum Curator Travis Haun, McMinn County Historian Joe Guy and Director of the EG Fisher Library will discuss resources available at their facilities. There will also be site visits of the Museum, Library and County Archives. Reservations may be made by phone. Cost $5.00.
Digging for the Truth Archaeology Day Camp
July 20 & 30, 9 am-12 pm
Kids will be able to participate in a mock dig and spend time learning about archaeology, artifacts and anthropology. Open to children ages 10 and older. Reservations may be made by phone. Cost $25.00
Genealogy Workshop with an Emphasis on Cherokee Lineage
August 9, 9 am-2 pm
Learn the facts about tracing your Cherokee family history. Reservations may be made by phone. Cost $15.00
Gray Fossil Site and Prehistoric Tennessee
Learn about the Gray Fossil Site, which was discovered in May 2000 during road construction in Washington County near the community of Gray, Tennessee. The deposit is located in the southern Appalachian Mountains of east Tennessee, and provides a rare opportunity to study the paleoecology of southern Appalachia. Reservations may be made by phone. Cost $5.00.
