The Etowah Old Fashion Fourth of July Committee is preparing to light up the skies with fireworks and fill the air with all day entertainment for the Annual Fourth of July event. This event is one of the largest events held in the region with over 12,000 in attendance each year watching the fireworks display sponsored by ThyssenKrupp-Waupaca Foundry.
The Fourth of July event will begin at 7:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast provided by Boy Scout Troop 74, followed by a 5K race sponsored by First Baptist Church at 8:00 a.m.. The American Legion will then hold the Opening Ceremony and the day will be followed with the Zeta Kappa Sorority Miss Etowah Beauty Pageant.
Mayfield Dairy will provide family games for all ages, and the Fourth of July Event will have a dunking booth, and other fun games provided by local church and civic organizations. Also for everyone’s entertainment will be a Go- Bungy and a Climbing Wall.
Music is always a large part of the Fourth Celebration and this year the Fourth of July Committee has recruited a slate of entertainers with different varieties of musical talents.
The feature band for this year’s Old Fashion Fourth of July Celebration will be White Chocolate sponsored by Athens Federal Community Bank and Citizens National Bank. This band, known throughout the region as being one of the best bands in the area, provides a variety of music appealing to all age groups.
The event will be climaxed with the gigantic ThyssenKrupp-Waupaca Fireworks Display that will begin around 9:30 p.m., followed by more music from White Chocolate until 11:00 p.m.
