Events begin with fireworks in Copperhill on Thursday and ends with fireworks in Ducktown on Saturday.

The Copper Basin’s celebration of America’s birthday begins with fireworks from Tater Hill on Thursday and ends with fireworks in Ducktown on Saturday. The Ducktown High School reunion will be July 6 at the Copper Basin High School cafeteria, with doors opening at 12:30 and the program beginning at 1:30.

The annual Tater Hill fireworks, sponsored by the TriCities Business Association and Glenn Springs Holdings, is scheduled to begin around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. There will be live music beginning at 7 p.m., and the Copperhill Kiwanis will have hot dogs and soft drinks before the fireworks.

Activities on the 4th begin at the Epworth campus with a  pancake breakfast from 8-10 AM, followed by all kinds of family fun at the park.  There will be Bingo, a dunking tank, old fashioned hay rides, face painting, a country store, cake sale, food and drink plus ice cream and an Antique Car Show!  Bring your lawn chair to enjoy the Noon patriotic program, rain or shine!

Ducktown takes over the festivities on the 4th with the 6th annual Hoist House get-together from 4:30 – 7:30 featuring food, music and fun. The Barker Brothers are the featured performers. Following that will be Gospel Music from 7:30-9:30 on the stage behind Glenn Springs featuring Copper City quartet, The Kaylor Family, Mandy Dixon, Mine City Choir and  the Mine City Youth Drama team.

On Saturday, pancakes will be served at the Hoist House from 7-10 a.m., followed by the Patriotic Walking Parade on Main Street in Ducktown. Wear your patriotic gear and join the parade, as spectators are welcome to be participants. The parade will end at Glenn Springs Holdings’ office for an open house with goodies and giveaways.

There will be free admission to the Ducktown Basin Museum all day Saturday so visitors can fully enjoy the community’s heritage.

Kids Alley with fun and games to benefit the Basin youth athletics and cheerleaders will open at 11 a.m. and continue through the day.

The Easter Star soup bean dinner at the Masonic Lodge will be offered from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Great American Rubber Duck Race begins at 2 p.m.

There will be a Classic Car Cruise-In from 4-7 p.m.

The festivities will end with music. Steel String Session takes the stage from 7-8:30, followed by CC Morgan.

Ducktown’s fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

Van tours of Glenn Springs Holdings’ reclamation projects are full. Reservations have been made for the 210 seats available for the trips, and there is a waiting list of folks who will be scheduled first for next year’s trips.
