Trash, building needs and libraries are on the agenda for Thursday’s county commission meeting, 7 p.m. at the community center in Ducktown.
The commission reviewed the bids for sanitation services at a workshop last week and also talked about building needs (see separate stories). A bid award is expected to be made and recommendations will be made from the Building Committee.
The commission will be asked once again to provide operational funding for two full-service libraries. If approved, Friends of the Library will turn over the money it has collected for construction of the buildings, one in Benton and one in Ducktown.
County Executive Mike Stinnett will ask the commission for guidance on how to handle requests for exemptions to the out-of-county waste resolution. He said last week there are some propertyowners who do not have local license plates but do have trash generated in the county.
Sheriff Bill Davis will present a resolution that will allow the county to seek inmate health care reimbursement.
Other agenda items include a property tax exemption for Habitat-type organizations, the five-year reappraisal plan for the county, expansion of the Joint Economic and Community Development Board, Hiwassee Fire Hall, East Polk fire & Rescue bids, county road list, and Greg Brooks’ invitation to Ed Ditto.
