Much to be thankful forFamily & Friends:
We have so much to be thankful for that it is hard to begin and can’t stop-Praise the Lord!
Regina is teacher her Season “Pellissippi” Wimber Monday-Wednesday and Fridays. This is always a great joy she loves. These young adults she loves to teach and help them for life’s work.
Now for myself I am dealing with a very bad case of Vertigo-so bad that I am now using Jack’s cane when I have to walk any distance-or be close enough to touch things when I walk, ‘Jack prepared the way for me’ I tell friends. He used the cane 3 years, the walker the fourth year and the wheel chair the fifth year. I had all these in the garage when I reached that place and time of life. He lives with Regina and I in Spirit all the time.
Regina calls me three times a day. First about 8:10 a.m. two cell phone calls 2:15 and 6:15 to see how things are with me, also I know she is alright. I only drive to the post office each day and Church, Wetmore Baptist Church Sunday & Wed. night, when I can go.
Our memories of all of you are dear and precious. May God give all of you “Sweet Holidays” this year.
Love in Christ,
Helen L. & Regina Tullock
No Corridor KGentlemen:
Routing Corridor K across Little Frog Mountain along the Forest Service Kinsey Road would be an environmental and economic catastrophe. Acid pyrite runoff would likely be released into the Hiwassee River watershed. Lime pellets must be added periodically in Tellico streams draining from the little used Cherohala Skyway. Similar problems resulted from Foothills Parkway construction
The 2003 TDOT EIS stated many of the 4,600 cars and tractor trailers per day on U.S. 64 would not drive across Kimsey Mountain because the route is nine miles longer while traversing two miles of nine percent grade into the Copper Basin.
Tennessee is currently acquiring the Rocky Fork tract in Upper East Tennessee and extensive backcountry on the Cumberland Plateau. Why should we destroy wild areas in the Southern Appalachians for the sake of a dysfunctional road?
If Corridor K is completed, decades of construction and billions of dollars will be needed. The first work in the Ocoee River Gorge should be (off season) straightening of the three worst curves on U.S. 64 as proposed by Polk County representatives in March 2004.
Respectfully,
Kirk Johnson
