Two people were killed and four were injured in a head-on wreck on Hwy. 64 at Boyd Gap around 7:30 Sunday night. Christian J. Connier of Cleveland, the driver of a 1993 Dodge Caravan, and Linda Foster of Waynesville NC, the driver of a 2002 Chrysler Concorde, both died as a result of their injuries. Two children in Connier’s car -- Ayla Harper of Kylie Connier of Cleveland -- were airlifted to T.C. Thompson in Chattanooga. Two adults -- David Hembree of Culberson NC and Sandra Helton -- were also injured.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Connier was traveling westbound on Hwy. 64, while Foster and Hembree were eastbound. Connier’s vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, slamming into Foster’s car. Hembree’s 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck then hit Foster’s car. All three vehicles came to a rest in the middle of the roadway. Helton was a passenger in Foster’s car.
